Abraham Lincoln turned 203 on Sunday, February 12 and the world premiere of A. Lincoln: A Pioneer Tale to take place in June at the Lincoln Amphitheatre.
The show is set in 1816 when Thomas, Nancy, Sarah, and a young Abraham Lincoln moves to Southern Indiana, at that time a wilderness with bears, cougars and wolves. The family was looking for new opportunities. Amidst the hope of a new life, Abe’s mother Nancy sings a powerful song about moving on to Indiana and never looking back.
The scene fades to the Executive Mansion with President Lincoln talking about his beloved mother to his sons Willie and Tad. “I wish we could have met her,” says Tad. President Lincoln looks at his sons and says “Me, too. She was a special woman. She always taught me to respect others and to remember my place in life.”
So begins A. Lincoln: A Pioneer Tale, a new musical about Abraham Lincoln’s Indiana boyhood years. Audiences will witness this inspiring story come to life at the majestic Lincoln Amphitheatre, a 1,500-seat covered outdoor venue nestled amongst the trees on the very land Lincoln walked as a boy.
A.Lincoln: A Pioneer Tale runs June 8-June30, Wednesday to Saturday evenings with one Sunday matinee July 1. Tickets are currently on sale at the box office (online coming soon) 800-264-4223.

Spa at French Lick Expands to Meet Customer Demand
Four massage rooms added, new shower experience offered and Pluto tubs get a BIG makeover
Some exciting new changes are coming to The Spa at French Lick in the form of new treatment rooms, larger soaking tubs and a new shower system that can only be described as a “shower experience.”
With 65% of its business coming in the form of massages and more requests than they could handle, The Spa at French Lick saw an opportunity to expand. Four additional massage rooms are now under construction in the former salon portion of the spa. The new additions will bring the total number of treatment rooms to 28 in the 27,000 square foot spa.
“Massages are our most requested service,” says Spa Director Kim Allen. “More and more guests are recognizing the benefits of massage and coming to us to heal injuries, to help with certain health conditions, and to promote overall wellness."
Wellness has been a reoccurring theme ever since the spa first started offering Pluto baths over 100 years ago. With high concentrations of magnesium, sodium and potassium, the Pluto water is enriched with over 20 different minerals. The Soaking mineral baths offer many benefits, including stimulation of circulation, cell hydration and increased moisture retention. In addition, medical research shows soaking in the water detoxifies and eases muscle and joint tension to induce relaxation.
The inherent benefits of the traditional bath are being enriched with new technology. New spacious garden tubs will allow each bathing experience to be meditative, comfortable and invigorating.
Even the showers are getting a make-over at the resort spa.
“Imagine all the components of your perfect shower,” says Allen. “These new showers not only offer multiple rain showerheads and body sprays but they also let you customize everything from the temperature, to the lights and even the sound thru a digital touchpad.”
The spa, which is open 365 days a year, does not expect any interruption in service during construction. Work will be done after hours and is expected to take 4-6 weeks.
For reservations at the Spa at French Lick as well as its sister property-The Spa at West Baden, please call 888-936-9360.
The dates are set for the Sunset Wine Cruises at Patoka Lake. Lawrence County’s Carousel Winery is featured Oct 6th. Enjoy food paired with several selections of wine tastings, a full glass of your favorite all while cruising the lake during the long shadows time. Details 888-819-6916.
