Mark Your Calendars: Things to Do in Harrison County

Civil War Encampment
On April 12-13 visit an authentic Civil War camp on the downtown square and see how soldiers lived, worked, and played!  The Ohio Valley Civil War Association will be encamped on the downtown square and provide demonstrations on marching, rifle firing, cooking, and cannon loading and firing.  Take part in an authentic Civil War cricket match to see how soldiers enjoyed themselves in their time off. Explore their camp and ask questions about their museum-quality displays.  Rifle and cannon firing demonstrations are at 11 am, 1 pm, and 3 pm on Saturday. This event is entirely free and open to the public! Visit thisisindiana.org for more info.

Finding Heaven on Earth

April 12 through May 19 The Artisan Center will exhibit works by local painter Rosamond Sample. Rosamond O'Bannon Sample (1927-2005) studied art at Miami of Ohio and the Traphagen School of Fashion in New York City. A native to Harrison County and Corydon, she was noted for her white on white abstract collages in particular, although she worked with pastel, pen and ink and paint also.
