A Walk in the Woods of Martin County

Beautiful Martin County with its scenic winding roads, cliff rocks and views of the East Fork of the White River, is the perfect place for a weekend walk in the woods and wanderers should check out several of the county’s amazing geological formations such as The Pinnacle with its perpendicular descent of over two hundred feet.

The erosion of the original sandstone formation that makes up The Pinnacle also created the Jug Rock monument, the largest free-standing table rock formation (also called a tea table) in the United States east of the Mississippi River.

Not far away is House Rock, part of the same sandstone formation that formed The Pinnacle, though time and ice gradually shifted it further away. These wonderful photos are courtesy of  Jamie Snyder.
